FDD Item 20

Item 20 is the section of a Franchise Disclosure Document containing five tables of outlet counts and franchisee status changes over the prior three years.

Item 20 is the most data-rich section of any Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). It contains five standardized tables disclosing how many outlets a brand opened, transferred, terminated, declined to renew, reacquired, or saw cease operations — broken out by year for the trailing three years.

Because the FTC mandates a consistent format, Item 20 is the closest thing to a comparable, system-wide health record across franchise brands. It is the primary source for our Health Index.
