Systemwide units moved -19.9% over 2023–2025.
| Status (FTC) | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outlets at start | 189 | 206 | 190 |
| Opened | 39 | 16 | 2 |
| Transfers | 13 | 23 | 12 |
| Terminations | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Non-renewals | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Reacquired by franchisor | 0 | 1 | 1 |
| Ceased — other reasons | 20 | 30 | 27 |
| Outlets at end | 206 | 190 | 165 |
| Net change | +17 | -16 | -25 |
1 terminations + 0 non-renewals + 27 ceased (other) = 28 exits ÷ 186 at start = 15.1%
These are the three FTC Item 20 statuses in which a franchised outlet left the system — including voluntary non-renewals and outlets that ceased for other reasons, which can include sales or absorption into another franchise. Transfers (12) are resales, not exits; reacquisitions by the franchisor (1) are tracked separately. There is no official “failure rate”, and not every exit is a closure or a failure; Item 20 does not say why any outlet left. On a small starting base, a single exit moves this rate sharply.
What the filing says about these exits: The FDD's footnotes say 11 of the 27 outlets counted as “ceased — other” in 2025 were territories sold to existing franchisees and absorbed into their territories, which remained operational under new ownership; the other 16 closed. (FDD Item 20, Table 1 and Table 3 footnotes (pp. 77, 84–85))
