Which franchise systems we track are the largest?
Ranked by franchised outlets at the latest fiscal year end, from Table 1 of each brand's latest FDD Item 20 — system size as the franchisor itself discloses it. Covers only the systems whose current FDD we hold, not every franchise in the U.S.
Brands are ranked by franchised outlets at the end of the latest fiscal year disclosed in Table 1 of their latest FDD Item 20 (no more than two years old), descending. Company-owned outlets are excluded from the ranking figure. Counts reflect each brand's own disclosure year, so fiscal years may differ by a year across rows. Brands that file one combined FDD (for example two formats of the same system) appear once. Large systems we hold no current FDD for are absent — this is a ranking of our coverage, not a census.
Universe: every brand tracked here whose latest filing is a machine extraction from a public FDD (state regulator portals, chiefly Minnesota CARDS), filed 2024–2026. Filings more than two years old and sample/seed data never enter a ranking. Each row's “FDD” link is the official document the figure came from; each brand link leads to the full sourced profile.
